Pretty shocking news, acclaimed comic book artist Micheal Turner has passed away after a battle with cancer. A prolific artist, Turner is best known for his work at “Witchblade”, “Fathom”, “Superman/Batman” and probably his best known work, DC’s big event “Identity Crisis”. I’m personally a big fan of his work, and it’s really a waste that he died so early. I’m sure a lot of comic book fans are mourning for his loss as well, considering it was announced during Wizard World Chicago. He truly deserves the title of best comic book artist.

My condolences extend to Mr. Turner’s family and friends. I wish he rests in peace.
Well, looks like they’re still going through with the Large Hadron Collider activation, and there’s a site with the countdown to it’s activation, or what could possibly be (though the chance is extremely low), the end of the world. If successful though, the experiment could yield great results which could help explain one of the biggest mysteries in the universe: the Higgs Boson.

Well if we only have a few days to live, what would you do? Personally, instead of doing something outrageous or special, I think it’s better to spend them with close friends and family and having fun times. I think I’ll spend time with my sister, we have fun doing a lot of random shit together, like these guys!
But seriously though, there’s relatively no risk to this experiment. It might not even work, lol.
I was able to watch “The Incredible Hulk” this weekend, and it surely lived up to my expectations! The action was definitely much improved compared to the previous Hulk movie, and the story was pretty well done as far as comic book movies go. I’m really psyched with how Marvel Studios are handling their characters, and from watching Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk I think they have established a benchmark on how comic book movies should be done.
Trailer:
It’s not without it’s flaws though, some parts (particularly the acting) felt a little… flat, and there were some scenes that they could’ve fleshed out more but it was definitely a huge improvement to Ang Lee’s Hulk. The action was really intense, particularly the big fight between The Hulk and Abomination. It kinda reminded me of monster movies especially since it took place in the middle of a city, and seeing two behemoths duke it out is a sight to behold. Another great thing about the movie was something that Marvel Studios has been building up in “Iron Man”: the references to the “Cinematic Marvel Universe”. The super soldier serum Blonsky took, the funky sci-fi sonar cannons, the side characters (especially that cameo near the end!), with all those references you really feel like they’re setting up something HUGE. And that’s something I can’t wait to see.
I’d like to make a longer review but I’m pressed for time at the moment. I’ll probably write up more about the movie in a few days when I’ve gathered my thoughts for the film.
“The Incredible Hulk“ was one of the most anticipated movies of the year, and I’m sure a lot of people who were looking forward to it weren’t disappointed. So far this has got to be the best Summer for movies with Iron Man, Indy 4, Hulk and The Dark Knight. Let’s hope it keeps up for the years to come!
Kotaku.com delivered some interesting details regarding Marvel Ultimate Alliance II, the sequel to one of the best superhero games ever. There were leaks regarding the setting of the game, and it seems like it’ll be based on Marvel’s highly successful crossover event “Civil War”, where heroes chose sides and fought against each other.
I loved “Civil War” despite it’s flaws, and the mere thought of being able to play it makes me really excited. I wonder though if the heroes’ affiliations will be fixed,… if not then it’ll be interesting to play as Iron Man on the anti-registration side. Another interesting feature will be the game’s “ability fusion” system where you can fuse the abilities of 2 heroes to create a being with hybrid abilities. Spider-Wolverine anyone?
If you haven’t been watching the news, there’s been major flooding in the Midwest, a disaster comparable to the Katrina Hurricane disaster years ago. My folks are originally from downtown Illinois so we’re really worried.
I’m really freaking out with all these disasters happening one after another, and I’m not sure if I’m being paranoid or if anyone else feels the same. I guess all we can do is pray, and hope that people in power will work on finding solutions.
I was walking home back to my apartment yesterday, and this man comes along and tells me “Hey man, you were really funny in American Pie!”. Apparently he mistook me for Sean William Scott… which was pretty ridiculous since we don’t look remotely alike. I just ended up humoring him and gave him an “autograph”. It’s pretty hilarious when people end up looking like famous celebrities and end up in those situations, but I guess it’s more funny when people mistake celebrities for other celebrities. I found some pretty funny images of lookalikes here, check em out:
